Wooden pivot doors are usually wider, taller and heavier than standard hinged doors. We reinforce the internal structure around the upper and lower pivot positions so that the pivot hardware is fixed to stable load-bearing areas.
The door leaf uses a balanced, symmetrical structure on both sides. The materials, thickness and production process are kept consistent on both sides to reduce uneven internal stress and keep the large door leaf flat.

Wooden Pivot Door Options by Pivot Position
The pivot position affects the opening path, passage width and appearance of the door. We can set the pivot axis near the edge, at an offset position or in the centre according to the door size and site conditions.
The pivot axis is positioned close to one side of the door leaf. Most of the door width remains available as the main opening section, while the upper and lower hardware stays concealed.
The pivot axis is set at a selected distance from the edge of the door leaf. When the door opens, the door leaf is divided into a larger section and a smaller return section, creating the typical appearance of a pivot door.
The pivot axis is positioned near the centre of the door leaf. The two sides of the door rotate around the central axis, so sufficient clearance is required on both sides of the opening.

What Makes Wooden Pivot Doors Different from Standard Doors
A standard hinged door is fixed along one side of the door leaf, while a wooden pivot door rotates around upper and lower pivot points positioned within the door leaf. Therefore, they differ in how the door weight is supported, how the door opens and how it works with the wall design.
The upper and lower pivot hardware supports the door leaf from the top and bottom. This allows the door leaf to be made wider and taller than a standard hinged door.
The pivot hardware is installed at the top and bottom of the door leaf, so exposed side-mounted hinges are not required along the vertical edge.
The door leaf rotates around the selected pivot position. When the door opens, the larger and smaller sections on either side of the pivot axis rotate together.
The weight of the door leaf is transferred through the upper and lower pivot points instead of being carried mainly by the hinge side of the door frame.

Suitable for Large Wooden Pivot Doors
Wooden pivot doors are usually larger and thicker than standard hinged doors, so the door frame also needs more thickness and strength. Wanbaoyijia wooden pivot doors normally use a 40 mm-thick frame body, providing a more stable supporting structure for your large door leaf.
Instead of common softwood, we use rubberwood, which has higher hardness and density. The thicker rubberwood frame helps keep the opening stable and provides support for the strike plate, seals and other frame components, making it easier for your door to maintain suitable gaps and a proper closing position after installation.
LVL and Aluminium Reinforcement Inside the Door Leaf
Wanbaoyijia uses LVL around all four sides of the door leaf as the internal frame. Wanbaoyijia normally uses approximately twice as much LVL as in a standard door leaf, and the frame is approximately 80 mm wide, providing more internal support for your large door leaf.
An aluminium alloy frame approximately 70 mm wide can also be installed around the inner perimeter of the door leaf. It further reinforces the door structure and reduces the risk of deformation during transport, installation and use.

For a project in Egypt, the client purchased the pivot hardware for the wooden pivot door, but they could not cut the required holes and recesses on site. We used an automatic CNC machine to prepare the required holes and recesses in advance, reducing the difficulty of on-site installation.
For an office project in China, many people use the entrance every day. The client wanted a wooden pivot door that allowed more natural light into the office and gave the entrance a different appearance, so we designed a wooden pivot door with glass. The project has now been completed, and the installed door passed the project inspection.
