Our Hollow Core Doors feature a structure comprising a solid timber frame and evenly distributed infill material, which reduces the overall weight of the door leaf whilst ensuring the fundamental stability required for interior timber doors.
The internal frame is typically constructed from timber 40–50 mm wide, with available materials including LVL, rubberwood, eucalyptus and pine. You may also specify the material you require based on your project budget; if necessary, we can source it separately.

Reducing the Risk of Warping in Hollow Core Doors
To minimise the likelihood of warping in hollow core doors, we focus on two key aspects: the internal framework and the layout of the infill material.
Firstly, Wanbaoyijia uses finger-jointed timber for the internal framework. Each section of finger-jointed timber is typically 20–30 cm in length. Compared to a single continuous piece of timber, finger-jointed timber allows internal stresses to be released more evenly, reducing the likelihood of warping in the door leaf at a later stage and thereby helping to minimise after-sales risks.
Secondly, when solid timber is used as the internal filling material, we segment the timber strips. Each segment is typically 1.2–1.4 m in length, with a staggered joint structure of approximately 10–30 cm at the joints. This segmented layout reduces stress concentration within the door leaf, thereby lowering the likelihood of warping and deformation.

Keeping Hollow Core Door Surfaces Flat
As hollow core doors have a hollow structure, unevenness on the door leaf surface is a major concern. To minimise this risk, we control the surface flatness of the door leaf in two main ways.
Firstly, we control the thickness of the internal filling material. All wooden filling strips must be sanded, with thickness tolerances kept within ±0.2 mm.
Secondly, we carry out two stages of inspection to check the surface flatness of the door leaf. The first stage takes place at the door cleaning station. Whilst cleaning the door leaf, workers simultaneously check its surface for unevenness; any door leaf found to be uneven is immediately rejected. The second inspection is carried out prior to packaging. Before each door is packaged, workers re-inspect the surface to ensure it is flat before proceeding to the packaging process.

For the project in Peru, the client’s project involved temporary accommodation on a construction site, intended for use for approximately two years. As these were wooden doors for the project manager’s office, a higher standard was required. For this type of temporary accommodation, where a relatively sturdy wooden door was also desired, we recommended a construction comprising a eucalyptus frame with particleboard filling, spaced at 15 cm intervals. As the frame is made of solid timber, it remains quite sturdy, whilst the use of particleboard as the filling material makes the entire door leaf heavier, making it less prone to warping. The hollow core doors he purchased have now been installed, and he is very satisfied.
For the project in Indonesia, the client’s site was located by the sea, and they wished to procure wooden doors that were relatively moisture-resistant and inexpensive. Our proposed solution was: plywood veneer with eucalyptus filling. The moisture resistance of the plywood veneer is comparable to that of MDF, whilst eucalyptus offers greater resistance to warping than particleboard, making it well-suited to the humid coastal environment. The client ultimately purchased 38 sets; they have now been installed for over a year, and the client is very pleased with them.
For the Oman project, the walls in the client’s rooms were very thin—only 9 cm thick—and not particularly sturdy. Initially, the client wanted solid timber doors, but after assessing the situation, we recommended hollow core doors with rubberwood filling. Not exactly. Whilst some low-cost hollow core doors use honeycomb paper as filling, our Hollow Core Doors can be manufactured with a solid timber frame, internal support battens and various reinforcement materials, depending on your project requirements.
Hollow Core Doors can meet basic space partitioning requirements, but they are not high-performance soundproof doors. If your project has high sound insulation requirements, we recommend choosing Solid Core Doors or Acoustic Doors.
They can be used in dry areas of a bathroom, provided the surface finish, edge sealing and ventilation conditions are suitable. For areas with high humidity, we would recommend selecting a door leaf structure with better moisture resistance.
Depending on the frame structure, minor trimming may be possible, but extensive cutting is not recommended. It is best to confirm the final door leaf dimensions, lock hole positions and installation requirements before production.
