Wanbaoyijia Kids Door Structure and Size Configuration
Wanbaoyijia Kids Doors integrate an independently operable child-sized door into the main door leaf, with a door leaf thickness of 50 mm. The main door-leaf material and surface finish can be selected according to the project. For Rubberwood Painted Kids Doors, both the main door and child door are mainly made from rubberwood.
In the standard configuration, both the main door and child door use a semi-hollow internal structure. Particleboard or solid timber strips can be used as infill materials, with gaps of about 80 mm normally left between the infill materials. If a project requires greater door-leaf stability, a fully solid structure can also be used.
The size and position of the child door are confirmed according to the main door dimensions and project requirements. If you do not specify the child-door size, we normally use a height of about 1200 mm, with a distance of around 150 mm between the child-door edge and the main-door edge. If the main door leaf is narrower, this distance can be reduced accordingly so that the child door can be made larger.
The child door can be made with an arched shape according to the approved design, and decorative mouldings, carving and other decorative details can also be added to the child door. Before production, we will ask you to confirm the main door dimensions, child-door dimensions and position, design, opening direction and hardware configuration.

One of the main structural differences between a Kids Door and an ordinary interior door is that an independently operable child door is installed within the main door leaf. After the child-door opening is cut, if both the main-door opening and the child-door edge use ordinary straight cuts, the two parts meet directly at the gap when closed, making the gap clearly visible.
Our method is to machine matching rebated edges on both the child-door opening in the main door and the edge of the child door.
When the child door is closed, its edge does not simply stop beside the opening. Instead, it overlaps with the rebate around the main-door opening. Viewed from the front, the opening in the main door is smaller than the child door. This helps prevent light from passing through the gap and gives the complete door set a cleaner appearance.
Solid Timber Reinforcement Around the Child-Door Opening
When producing a Kids Door, a relatively large child-door opening needs to be cut into the main door leaf. Once this opening is cut, part of the original door-leaf structure in this area is also removed.
Therefore, when producing a Kids Door, we use solid timber infill and reinforcement around the perimeter close to the child-door opening, so that this area retains sufficient solid timber support.
For a Kids Door, this step is important because the production process is not simply cutting an opening in an ordinary door and fitting the removed section back into place.

When the child door is opened, the magnetic latch bolt automatically retracts into the lock body, helping to prevent children from being scratched. If anti-theft performance is not required, a ball catch can also be installed on the child door. The ball catch has a rounded latch, helping to reduce the risk of scratching children. The customer ultimately chose the magnetic lock solution for the child door.
