High-Performance Composite Interior Doors for Project Use
- The support layer helps with CNC drilling and reduces chipping around the openings.
- Deeper screw engagement reduces the risk of hardware loosening and repeated adjustments after installation.
- The multi-layer structure helps improve everyday sound insulation.
- Thicker composite facing reduces the risk of dents from daily use.
- The rigid support layer reduces the risk of an uneven door leaf surface.
How Composite Interior Door Panel Structures Are Defined
On this page, a composite interior door refers to a door leaf made with a surface board, an 8 mm solid wood support layer and a selectable internal core.
In a 3+8, 4+8 or 5+8 structure, the first number refers to the thickness of the surface board, while 8 mm refers to the solid wood support layer behind it. These numbers describe the composite facing, not the material used inside the door core.
The panel structure and core filling are selected separately. The same composite facing can be combined with particleboard, tubular particleboard, eucalyptus timber or rubberwood according to the required door weight, sound insulation and project budget.
Send your project requirements to Wanbaoyijia so we can recommend a suitable panel structure and core combination.
Composite Interior Door Options
The three options use different surface board thicknesses and materials. You can select the appropriate structure according to the required door weight, facing strength and project cost.

This option uses a 3 mm plywood surface board. It is suitable for projects that need to control door leaf weight and cost while retaining the 8 mm solid wood support layer.

This option uses a 4 mm MDF surface board. It provides a balance between surface flatness, impact support and production cost.

This option uses a 5 mm plywood surface board. It is suitable for projects that require a thicker facing and stronger support against daily impacts.
Composite Interior Door Solutions for Easier Project Coordination
Wanbaoyijia confirms the panel structure, core filling, door sizes and order markings before production, helping you manage different door specifications, reduce site errors and keep installation organized.

The surface board material, thickness and 8 mm solid wood support layer are confirmed before mass production, helping you avoid receiving doors with the wrong panel structure.

Particleboard, eucalyptus wood, rubberwood or tubular particleboard can be selected according to your budget and performance requirements.

A cross-section sample can be provided before production, allowing you to check the panel layers, material thickness and internal filling.

Door leaf dimensions can be produced according to your approved door schedule, reducing cutting and adjustment on site.

Door frames can be supplied according to your wall thickness and installation requirements, making installation more straightforward.

3+8, 4+8 and 5+8 composite doors can be combined in the same order, allowing you to use different structures for different rooms and budgets.

The panel structure, core filling, room number and opening number can be marked on the packaging, helping your site team identify and distribute each door more quickly.

The allowable trimming range is confirmed according to the internal solid wood frame, helping you avoid damaging the support layer or internal structure during site trimming.
Structural Features of Composite Interior Doors
Wanbaoyijia composite interior doors use a multi-layer panel structure. Glue is applied separately to the surface board and the 8 mm solid wood support board, and the composite panels are then pressed onto both sides of the door core, providing a stable door leaf structure for your project.

Helps the panel layers bond evenly and reduces the risk of local delamination.

Balances stress on both sides of the door core, helping the door leaf remain stable.

Provides continuous support across the door face, helping reduce local weak spots and surface unevenness.

Keeps the composite panels in position during pressing, reducing the risk of panel misalignment.

Keeps the finished door leaf at the required thickness, making it easier to match the door frame and hardware.

Reduces moisture entering the exposed panel layers and lowers the risk of edge swelling during transport, installation and use.
An 8 mm Solid Wood Layer for Better Impact Resistance
Wanbaoyijia’s 4+8 and 5+8 composite interior doors use an 8 mm solid wood support board behind the surface board. The solid wood support board provides a harder backing than the MDF surface board. Compared with plywood of the same thickness, it also contains less adhesive within the board itself.
After bonding, the door facing thickness increases from 4 or 5 mm to 12 or 13 mm. The thicker composite facing provides stronger support behind the surface board, improving impact resistance and panel rigidity while reducing the risk of dents and damage from daily use.

A Rigid Support Layer Helps Keep the Door Surface Flat
In a 4+8 or 5+8 composite interior door, the 8 mm solid wood board forms a rigid layer between the surface board and the door core. During pressing, this layer distributes pressure across the door leaf and reduces the effect of local differences in the core material.
Even when some sections of the filling material are slightly higher, the solid wood support layer helps level the surface before the outer board is pressed. This greatly reduces the risk of waves, local bumps and unevenness on the finished door leaf.
Helping You Choose the Right Composite Interior Door

Choose the right panel structure based on your project budget, door weight and panel strength requirements.

Composite Interior Door Solutions Used in Projects
See how different composite panel structures and core materials can be used to meet the budget, durability and functional requirements of different areas within a project.

In a project in Tunisia, the client needed strong wooden doors for the ground floor of an apartment building because of security concerns. After discussing the requirements in detail, we recommended a composite interior door with 5 mm plywood and an 8 mm solid wood board. The plywood provides good moisture resistance, while the 13 mm combined door panel offers better impact resistance and provides a stronger door facing.

In a project in Egypt, the client selected smooth white door panels. This type of finish requires a very flat surface, as even small differences in the height of the filling materials can make the door surface look uneven.
We recommended a composite interior door with 4 mm MDF and an 8 mm rubberwood board. The finished door leaves showed almost no visible unevenness. The doors have now been installed, and the client is satisfied with them.

In another project in Egypt, the client needed hotel room doors with good sound insulation and impact resistance. After reviewing the design, we recommended using 4 mm MDF and an 8 mm solid wood board for the door panels, with timber strips placed approximately every 3 cm inside the door leaf.
This made the composite interior door strong and helped improve its sound insulation. After receiving the goods, the client was satisfied with the weight and solid feel of the finished door leaves.

In a project in Singapore, the client wanted to reduce the use of MDF while keeping the door structure within budget. We recommended a structure using a 3 mm plywood surface board, an 8 mm solid wood support board and solid wood filling inside the door leaf.
The combined panel thickness was 11 mm. The plywood surface board, solid wood support layer and solid wood filling provided a substantial door structure while using less adhesive in the facing than an MDF-based alternative. The client accepted our recommendation.

Trusted Composite Interior Doors for Global Projects
No. A composite panel structure does not automatically give the door a fire rating. A fire-rated door requires the door leaf, frame, seals and matching hardware to be tested together. The internal structure may also need to be adjusted according to the required fire rating. Please provide the required testing standard and fire rating before quotation.
Not necessarily. A heavier door leaf can help reduce sound transmission, but the final sound insulation also depends on the door frame, perimeter seals, bottom gap and installation quality. Even with the same door leaf structure, different sealing systems may produce different sound insulation results.
There is no single hinge quantity suitable for every door. The required number depends on the door leaf height, width and weight, as well as the hinge size and door frame structure. A standard-sized door leaf may use three hinges, while a taller or heavier composite interior door may require four. We will confirm the hinge configuration after checking the door specifications and hardware model.
Yes. Please provide the hardware model, drawings and fixing positions before production. We will confirm the installation space, internal support and CNC machining positions according to the hardware, helping prevent the lock body or fixing screws from being installed in an unsupported area.
No. If different materials or different surface board thicknesses are used on the two sides, differences in weight, thickness and moisture content may create uneven stress after the adhesive dries, making the door leaf more likely to deform. The same materials should therefore be used on both sides to reduce stress differences and help keep the door leaf stable.
