WanBaoYiJia Shaker Door Configuration
Shaker Doors are mainly defined by the design of the door leaf surface. Facing-board options for Shaker Doors include MDF, solid wood, plywood and rubberwood. Shaker Doors can use either paint-free finishes or painted finishes for the door leaf surface. The door leaf thickness is 50 mm and the door frame thickness is 32 mm. You can also choose a hollow, semi-hollow or fully solid door leaf according to your budget, giving you more options for the door construction.
Please provide your Shaker Door drawings, reference images and project requirements. We will select a suitable design solution and door construction for you.
Common Shaker Door Designs for Different Projects
Shaker Doors can use different design combinations according to room function, opening size and overall interior style. Common variations mainly include single or double doors, glass or solid panels, square or arched panels, as well as different panel numbers and proportions. The following are some of the Shaker Door designs we commonly produce.

Four vertical recessed panels are evenly arranged, giving the door a simple appearance. It is suitable for bedrooms, studies and other standard interior spaces.

The double door leaves combine long glass panels with Shaker lines, increasing light transmission while maintaining the Shaker design. It is suitable for living rooms, dining rooms or passage areas.

One large panel is positioned at the top, with two vertical panels below, creating a clear layered layout. It is suitable for standard residential interior openings.

Arched panels give the door leaf softer lines. The double-door format is suitable for wider openings and interior spaces that require some decorative detail.

One large recessed panel forms the door face, creating a simple design. It is suitable for modern, minimalist or cream-toned interiors.

Each door leaf is divided into three panel sections, creating a symmetrical overall proportion when used as a double door. This layout works well for walk-in wardrobes, storage rooms and wider interior openings.

Two panels are arranged vertically with clear proportions, creating a simple design. It is suitable for bedrooms, bathrooms or standard single-door applications.

One large arched-top panel creates a complete door-face design. It is suitable for modern residential interiors and can also be paired with a simple door frame.

Slim vertical and horizontal lines divide the door face into multiple small sections, giving the design more rhythm. It is suitable for interior spaces that need some variation in the door design.

The long arched panel gives the door face softer lines. The single-door format is suitable for standard room doors and also works well with cream-toned or simple residential interiors.

The main door leaf is combined with a fixed side panel, making it suitable for wider openings. This helps maintain the overall proportions and keeps the Shaker design consistent.

The upper and lower sections are clearly divided, and the four panels add more layering to the door face. It is suitable for bedroom doors or room doors in residential projects.
Shaker Doors by Facing-Board Material and Surface Finish
Different facing-board materials can be combined with different surface finishing methods. We offer three Shaker Door options: Rubberwood Painted Shaker Doors, Plywood Painted Shaker Doors and MDF Paint-Free Shaker Doors.
Rubberwood Painted Shaker DoorUses 8 / 12 / 18 mm rubberwood boards as facing boards, followed by painting. Solid-colour, wood-grain and other surface effects can be produced for you.
Plywood Painted Shaker DoorUses 4 / 8 / 12 mm plywood as the facing board. The surface is sanded and painted. It is suitable for Shaker Door projects requiring paint colours or veneer finishes.
MDF Paint-Free Shaker DoorUses 4 / 8 / 12 mm MDF as the facing board with a paint-free finish. You can choose wood-grain, solid-colour or engineered veneer effects without additional painting.
What You Should Confirm Before Ordering Shaker Doors
Shaker Doors can use different door-face designs, materials and door structures. Therefore, before quotation and production, the visible Shaker design and the complete doorset configuration need to be confirmed together.

Provide elevation drawings or reference images to confirm the panel layout, panel shape and whether glass sections are included.

Confirm the door leaf width and height before finalising the panel layout. For non-standard sizes, the panel proportions need to be checked again rather than simply stretching or enlarging a standard door design.

Confirm whether the facing board will use MDF, solid wood, plywood or rubberwood so that the quotation can be based on the correct material configuration.

Confirm whether the Shaker design will be formed by adding an additional facing board or by CNC-machining recessed areas. CNC recessed machining is used for painted Shaker Doors.

Confirm whether you need a paint-free or painted finish, and provide your required colour, wood-grain or veneer reference before production.

You can choose a hollow, semi-hollow or fully solid door leaf according to your project requirements and budget. The Shaker appearance itself does not determine the door core structure.

The door frame material, thickness and finish need to be confirmed together with the door leaf so that the complete doorset is produced according to the approved specifications.

Confirm the opening configuration, opening direction, lock and hinge requirements. For larger or heavier door leaves, the hinge configuration needs to be reconfirmed according to the final door leaf size and weight.
Main Features of WanBaoYiJia Shaker Doors
Shaker Doors have a relatively simple appearance, but door leaf stability, surface moisture protection, and later use and maintenance all affect the actual result after project delivery. We control the core material treatment, surface sealing and structural configuration, making it easier for you to balance appearance, use and later maintenance.

The moisture content of Shaker Doors is controlled at 8%–10%. This helps avoid deformation and cracking during normal use and within the warranty period.

The front, back, surrounding side edges, top and bottom edges, and the inside of the lock holes of Shaker Door leaves are all treated with paint, forming a more complete sealed paint-film layer.

An 8 mm solid wood board can also be used as the facing board for a paint-free Shaker Door, so paint-free Shaker finishes are not limited to MDF facing boards.

Painted Shaker Doors can also use composite door frames with 4 mm or 8 mm MDF facing boards. The facing surface is sanded and painted according to your confirmed surface finish.

Shaker Doors do not use a large number of projecting mouldings or complicated carvings. This does not make cleaning more difficult.

Shaker design is mainly characterised by simple proportions and restrained lines, providing you with a stable design choice.
Keeping the Shaker Panel Flat
One of the methods WanBaoYiJia uses for Shaker Doors is to first produce a 34 mm thick base door leaf, allowing the door leaf itself to form a complete and flat surface, and then press 8 mm thick facing boards onto both sides of the door leaf to form the Shaker design. This structure is formed by the height difference between the added facing boards and the original door leaf surface. The Panel area of the finished Shaker Door can form an 8 mm recessed effect, while the recessed area still retains the flat surface of the original base door leaf. With this method, Shaker Doors can be made with regular square-grid Panels or recessed Panels with curved profiles. When the design changes, the original flat Panel base can still be retained. Therefore, in addition to standard Shaker layouts, you can also create different recessed effects according to different door leaf designs. The final Shaker Door thickness is controlled at 50 mm, which also provides more options for lock configurations.
Sound Insulation and Stability
This is a Shaker Door made by the WanBaoYiJia door factory using a fully solid laminated solid-wood construction. From the cross-section, you can clearly see that there are no hollow cavities, paper honeycomb or grid-type void fillers inside the door leaf, and the overall solid filling rate is close to 100%. The core is made from multiple solid wood boards that have undergone a second kiln-drying process. They are stacked and arranged, then bonded and cured under high pressure using panel-jointing adhesive. This allows the timber to form a dynamic balance with normal indoor humidity and reduces the risk of warping and cracking caused by timber shrinkage and expansion. The raised frame and recessed panel are machined as one piece from continuous solid material, which also avoids after-sales problems such as frame delamination and cracking at the joints that can easily occur in the door leaf. The whole-board construction also keeps the door leaf’s resistance to twisting and warping stable. Compared with a hollow construction, the fully solid construction can also provide you with a denser barrier against everyday noise.

Project Coordination for Shaker Doors and Multiple Interior Door Types

When Shaker Doors are only one of the interior door types within a project, WanBaoYiJia can coordinate the different door types within the same project. For example, Shaker Doors can still be produced according to their own panel layouts and forming methods, while veneered doors, glass doors, sliding doors or other interior doors are handled according to their own construction, materials, surface finishes and process requirements. This means you do not need to manage multiple interior door suppliers separately, and different door types do not have to use the same construction simply because they are purchased together.
Shaker Door Solutions for Different Projects
Different Shaker Door projects can involve different production, installation and site management issues. The following cases show how we addressed these issues in actual projects through pre-assembly, drawing adjustments, door-number management and repeat-order matching.

In an interior door project in the UAE, the local building contractor had a tight installation schedule. During production, we completed the required hole machining for the door leaves and door frames in advance. After the Shaker Doors were completed, we pre-assembled them at the factory. When the products arrived on site, there was no need for reassembly or extensive adjustment, which could improve on-site installation efficiency.

In a hotel project in Poland, the customer and interior designer first confirmed the elevation design of the Shaker Door and then specified a lock with fixed installation dimensions. When reviewing the drawings, we found that the centre line of the lock body fell directly on the vertical recessed groove of the Shaker Door panel, meaning the lock would be installed on an uneven recessed area. We proposed increasing the panel width at the lock position and confirmed the adjustment with the designer. In the end, the locks on all door leaves were installed smoothly and positioned neatly and consistently, and the project was accepted successfully.

In an apartment project in Vietnam, the order included four Shaker panel layouts, and the 286 door sets had different dimensions, opening directions and hinge positions. We established a complete door-numbering system, marking the corresponding room number, panel type, dimensions and opening direction on the top or bottom of each door leaf. During site delivery, each batch could be checked against the list. In the end, all 286 door sets were accurately sorted according to their numbers, with no need for repeated sorting and handling, and the installation was completed two days ahead of schedule.

In a hotel extension project in Nigeria, 18 months after the first 210 Shaker Doors had been installed, the customer needed to purchase an additional 42 door leaves of the same design. We retrieved the original production files, paint formula records and retained samples for the project from our order records, and produced a matching sample door according to the original parameters. After the customer confirmed the sample, mass production was carried out according to the original panel dimensions, paint formula and hardware hole positions. After installation, there were no differences visible to the naked eye between the additional door leaves and the first batch.

WanBaoYiJia Shaker Door Customer Feedback
Yes. However, before production, the actual door leaf dimensions, panel proportions, finish, door frame and relevant hardware information still need to be confirmed before the design can be converted into production specifications.
No. The 3 mm dimension refers to one CNC recessed-machining method used for painted Shaker Doors.
No. The door frame and the Shaker Door facing board do not have to use the same material. The frame material can be selected according to the confirmed door construction, finish and project requirements.
Yes. We have produced a 2.8 m high Shaker Door and can produce Shaker Doors up to 3 m according to the confirmed project requirements.
A finished Shaker Door should not be freely trimmed on site. Cutting the door after production may affect the panel proportions, sealed edges, hardware positions, or the fit between the door leaf and door frame.
A Shaker Door has a recessed panel layout that creates visible depth on the door face. A Flat Slab Door has a continuous flat surface without the recessed panel divisions found on a Shaker Door.
No. Shaker mainly describes the recessed-panel appearance of the door face. Different constructions can be used to create this appearance, including the facing-board and CNC-machined methods used for the Shaker Doors shown on this page.
There is no fixed number of panels suitable for every door. The panel quantity should be selected according to the door leaf dimensions, required proportions and overall interior design.
The name “Shaker” comes from the Shaker religious community, whose furniture and interior design emphasised simplicity, practicality and the reduction of unnecessary decoration. This simple recessed-panel design later became widely known as the Shaker style.
There is no fixed price level for a Shaker Door. The facing-board material and thickness, door core, surface finish, door frame, door leaf dimensions, glass or hardware requirements, and the selected Shaker forming method can all affect the final quotation.
