How Wanbaoyijia Makes Double Swing Wooden Doors
Our double swing wooden doors use wooden door leaves and wooden frames. They are mainly used in homes, hotels and other indoor spaces.
The door leaf has an internal wooden framework, with additional solid wood reinforcement at each hinge fixing position. The corresponding areas of the door frame are also reinforced to withstand the repeated forces created when the door swings in both directions.
You can provide the opening dimensions, door leaf height and application. We will use this information to determine the door structure and hinge configuration.
Common Double Swing Wooden Door Types
Double swing wooden doors can be made in the following three forms, depending on the opening width, the use of the space and the required door height.

Double Swing Wooden Doors vs. Standard Hinged Doors
A standard hinged door usually opens in one direction, while a double swing wooden door can be pushed open from either side of the opening. The two types differ in opening direction, return method, frame design and hinge structure.
The same door can be pushed open from either side, making it suitable for interior passages with frequent movement.
After the door is opened, the spring hinges bring it back to the closed position, so it does not need to be closed by hand each time.
The door leaf can swing to both sides of the opening, unlike a standard hinged door that opens in only one direction.
The door leaf does not close against the stop used on a standard single-acting door, so clearance must be left on both sides for the door to swing.
The double acting spring hinges are mounted on the side of the wooden frame. Their barrels and connecting structure are different from standard butt hinges.
Locks suitable for two-way opening are required.
Raised Hinge-Mounting Strip Installation
The raised strip is the main fixing point between the double acting hinge and the wooden frame. Its strength directly affects the stability of the installed door leaf.
The strip is usually raised by about 8–10 mm, depending on the hinge barrel size, and the common width is about 50 mm. We use a solid wood strip to improve screw-holding strength.
During production, adhesive is applied to both contact surfaces, and nails are used to hold the strip in position. The assembled frame is then pressed for 24 hours to secure the strip to the main frame.
Adjustable Stainless Steel Double Acting Hinges
Wanbaoyijia uses double acting hinges with adjustable return speed. After the door leaf is installed, your installer can adjust the hinges according to how the door swings on site, so that the door opens and returns smoothly.
The hinge plates are about 3 mm thick and provide resistance to bending, which helps reduce the risk of the door leaf sagging after long-term use. Stainless steel is less likely to rust in normal indoor conditions and is also easier to maintain.

Usually not. A double swing wooden door needs clearance to swing in both directions, so its sound insulation and sealing are generally lower than those of a standard hinged door with a door stop. Flexible seals or brush strips can be added when needed to reduce visible gaps.
Usually not directly. Standard door frames often have a door stop or raised edge that prevents the door leaf from swinging in both directions. The existing frame and opening must first be checked before deciding whether to modify or replace them. Modifying a frame with a door stop may also affect the finished appearance.
