- Door leaves filled with aluminium honeycomb cores can be made larger than standard doors.
- Solid timber reinforcement is used at hardware fixing positions to provide more secure installation.
Lightweight Honeycomb Doors with Reliable Door Frames
Wanbaoyijia honeycomb doors are built with a honeycomb core. The door leaf is 45–50 mm thick, with 4 mm face panels. A standard-size door leaf weighs about 20 kg.
The architraves are made of wood-plastic composite and are 70 mm wide. The door frame is 30 mm thick and is available in hollow or solid construction.

Honeycomb Doors by Core Material
Wanbaoyijia honeycomb doors are available with three types of core material to meet different cost, size and structural requirements.

A low-cost option for temporary buildings, rental housing and other budget-sensitive projects.

Suitable for projects that require better bonding stability, surface support and production consistency than a basic paper core.

Used for oversized door leaves where reducing weight is more important than sound insulation.
Why Choose Our Honeycomb Door Solutions
We focus not only on price, but also on core filling and bonding quality to reduce hollow spots, delamination and batch inconsistencies.

The honeycomb paper core is expanded evenly before filling to reduce internal voids and provide more uniform support across the door leaf.

Honeycomb paperboard and aluminium honeycomb are cut to the exact dimensions of the internal framework, minimising looseness caused by an undersized core and deformation resulting from an oversized one.

We control adhesive coverage on both the face panels and core surfaces to reduce areas with insufficient adhesive and lower the risk of delamination and hollow spots.

Pressing time and pressure are adjusted according to the structural differences between honeycomb paper cores, honeycomb paperboard and aluminium honeycomb, ensuring the door core and face panels remain firmly bonded.

The timber used for the internal door leaf frame is inspected before production to reduce warping caused by unstable moisture content.

Once the first door has been completed, we verify the style, dimensions, colour and internal structure before commencing mass production, thereby reducing the risk of deviations across the entire batch.

Once the door leaf has been pressed, we check it for surface unevenness, warping and localised hollow spots to prevent products with visible defects from proceeding to the next production stage.

Before dispatch, we cross-check the door leaf style, dimensions, colour and quantity against the production order to help you minimise the risk of incorrect or missing items and delays during on-site installation.
Structural Advantages of Honeycomb Doors
The honeycomb core separates and supports the two door skins through a regular cell structure. This structure reduces the amount of filling material required.

After pressing, the two door skins and the honeycomb core form a sandwich structure, allowing the different layers to share the pressure applied to the door leaf.

The honeycomb cells support the door skins at multiple points, helping distribute local pressure over a larger area.

When subjected to a light impact, the honeycomb cells help disperse part of the force and reduce pressure concentration on one area of the door surface.

The hollow honeycomb structure uses less filling material than solid timber, particleboard or timber-strip filling.

The thickness, cell size and paper weight of the honeycomb core can be adjusted according to the door structure and project requirements.

The air spaces inside the honeycomb cells provide basic thermal insulation for interior use.
Reduce After-Sales Risks
We use one-piece door frame production equipment to manufacture the frames supplied with our honeycomb doors. This production method provides a high level of standardisation and more accurate frame dimensions, helping reduce on-site installation problems and project delays caused by dimensional errors.
Compared with hollow door frames, solid door frames have a stronger structure and provide more secure fixing during installation. They also help reduce after-sales problems caused by frame damage or loosening.

Preventing Warping and Sagging
For aluminium honeycomb doors over 1 metre wide and 2.2 metres high, we use high-strength LVL for the door leaf frame. Depending on the door size and hardware layout, we add a double-layer frame or internal reinforcement. For door leaves over 2.5 metres high, an additional frame member is added across the middle of the door leaf.
These measures help control bending and twisting and reduce the risk of door leaf deformation and sagging on the hinge side.

Honeycomb Door Project Cases
See how different honeycomb core options help clients control project costs, reduce handling work and meet different door opening sizes.

For a project in Oman, the contractor needed interior doors for temporary accommodation and considered the purchase price the main priority. Our solution was to use honeycomb paper core filling, a flush door leaf, a knob lock and two hinges. The final configuration met the client’s budget.

For a project in Vietnam, the client needed economical wooden doors for rental housing. The doors had to provide better impact resistance than standard honeycomb paper core doors while remaining within a low budget. Our solution was to use honeycomb paperboard filling, solid door frames and lever handle locksets. The client accepted the proposal and placed an order for 52 sets of honeycomb paperboard doors.

For a project in Malaysia, the door openings were 2.7 metres high and 1.1 metres wide, while the walls were only 11 centimetres thick. Because of the large door size and the limited wall thickness, we recommended aluminium honeycomb filling. The finished door leaf weighed only 30 kg, and the door frame was able to support its weight. The client was satisfied with the solution.

For a higher-specification project in Djibouti, the client required doors for openings measuring 2.4 metres high and 1 metre wide, while the walls were only 9 centimetres thick. The client also required a reasonable level of sound insulation. We recommended honeycomb paperboard filling. Honeycomb paperboard is lightweight and provides better sound insulation than aluminium honeycomb alone. The client accepted our recommendation.

Trusted Honeycomb Doors for Global Projects
Honeycomb paper core doors and honeycomb paperboard doors are mainly used in dry indoor areas. They are not recommended for bathrooms, balconies or outdoor openings exposed to water and moisture for long periods. A moisture-resistant door structure should be selected for these areas.
Only limited trimming is possible because the solid timber structure is mainly located around the edges of the door leaf. Excessive trimming may expose the honeycomb core or remove the internal timber reinforcement. We therefore recommend confirming the final door opening dimensions before production.
A honeycomb core alone does not make a door fire-rated or soundproof. Any fire or acoustic rating must be based on the complete tested door set.
Honeycomb doors should be stored in a dry, covered area and kept away from rain, damp floors and long-term exposure to high humidity.
Honeycomb doors are more suitable for rooms where lightweight construction and cost control are the main requirements. For corridors, public areas or spaces exposed to frequent impact, honeycomb paperboard, a reinforced structure or a higher-density core should be selected according to the required performance.
