As Hong Kong flats tend to be compact, folding doors are often required; however, the door opening in this particular project was not very wide—measuring approximately one metre—so we recommended a 3/7 folding door. The door leaf is divided into two sections in a 3:7 ratio, with the smaller section fixed and the larger section movable. When folded against the wall, the door saves a great deal of space, fitting perfectly against the door frame at a 90-degree angle. It occupies just one-third of the door’s original space. The client was very satisfied with the result.
Nigerian villa project: the client wishes to install folding doors on the balcony. The opening measures 2.5 metres in width and 2.3 metres in height. For an opening of this size, we recommended a four-panel folding design, with the two outer panels fixed to the walls and the two central panels movable. We also incorporated an off-centre hinge design to ensure the panels lie flush against the wall when open. During the manufacturing stage, we employed a double-frame design to enhance the stability of the panels. The installation has now been in place for six months, and the client is very satisfied with the sense of spaciousness these folding doors provide.
For this office partitioning project in China, the client wished to separate the reception area from the meeting room. The interior space measures 2.5 metres in height and 5 metres in width. For an opening of this size, we recommend an 8-panel folding door system. The door panels against the walls are fixed, whilst the central panels are movable, with four panels on each side. The top and bottom of each panel are connected by hinges, utilising an off-centre design with no floor tracks and damped hardware.
