After our South African client described the specific circumstances to us, we realised that there were no windows in the room. We therefore recommended cutting a 200mm × 1000mm glass panel into the door leaf, using frosted glass. This increased the door’s light transmission by 40% whilst ensuring privacy and security. Provided the weather is not overcast or rainy, no additional lighting is required indoors, and the client is very satisfied with this adjustment.
In this office project, the client was concerned that transparent glass doors would compromise privacy, but felt that frosted glass would look too cheap. We therefore recommended 8mm-thick Changhong glass, which not only ensures privacy within the room but also looks more upmarket than frosted glass. Once installed, the space did not feel oppressive, and the overall visual effect was more pleasing; the client was very satisfied with our revised proposal.
The project for our Brazilian client involves a small apartment, with each unit measuring approximately 80 square metres. Our design proposal involves installing wooden glass doors in areas such as the balcony, study, and kitchen. The glass panels measure 400 × 600 mm and consist of two 4-millimetre-thick sheets of clear glass. A cavity has been incorporated between the two panes; this is intended to maintain the door’s soundproofing properties whilst enhancing the brightness of the interior.
Our client in Southeast Asia had originally planned not to install glass doors on the ground floor, starting from the first floor upwards, as he was concerned that fitting glass doors on the ground floor would compromise the security of the wooden doors. However, if only the ground floor were left without glass whilst the first floor and above were fitted with glass, the overall appearance of the project would lack harmony and aesthetic appeal. To address this situation, we recommended a solution involving wire-reinforced glass for the wooden doors: the glass is embedded with a steel mesh, so even if the glass is broken, the embedded mesh still provides security. After reviewing our design proposal, he was very satisfied.
